INTIMACY WITH GOD

What Is Intimacy? Close familiarity or friendship, togetherness, affinity, rapport, attachment, confidentiality, close association, companionship, amity, affection, warm feelings, understanding, fellow feeling etc.

Intimacy with the Lord can only be achieved if we spend time in His presence through prayer and reading His Word, No husband is so undying and everlasting a husband as Christ is, death separates all other relations, but the soul’s union with Christ is not dissolved in the grave

Indeed, the day of a believer’s death is his marriage day, the day of his fullest enjoyment of Christ. No husband can say to his wife, what Christ says to the believer, I will never leave you, nor forsake you

It is hard to hear God, but it is even harder not to hear God, The pain one brings upon oneself by living outside of evident reality is a greater and longer-lasting pain than the brief pain of facing it head on

If you truly desire intimacy with your Father and Jesus, you must be willing to do what is the very heart of intimacy: share who you really are with Him all your innermost thoughts and feelings.

Psychology has taught us that the three basic needs of every human being are food, clothing, and shelter. It’s funny how we add many more to that list in our day and age, like a vehicle, smart phones/tablets, a partner worth one’s social status, a decent paying job, and more.

You may ask how these basic needs could possibly come in the way of our relationship with Jesus. How could these needs deter our walk with Him? But you know, as well as I do, we can end up giving them our undivided attention.

What happens to most of us in our pursuit to meet the basic needs in life is that we get extremely caught up either with studies, work, or the perfect career/business pursuit. Then, time becomes a very costly commodity for us. Consequently, we tend to not have time for prayer, bible study, or even church.

Ourselves. Us. The last one on the list of distractions, and possibly the most likely to distract us. We are, by nature, sinful, and if we live by our sinful nature, we will not get close to Jesus. No matter what you do, there will be a constant battle within yourself between spirit and flesh

It is a constant struggle to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, and to not become distracted by the passing concerns and things of this world. But if you are aware of what can, and does, interfere with your walk with Him, with His help you can begin to take the necessary actions to prevent them.

Hard work is very important because if a man wants something desperately, he will go extra mile. You hunger for Christ will build your enthusiasm to form intimacy with Him.

  1. I think intimacy with God openly shares my bad moods, foul language and impure thoughts. ‘Walk in his light.’
They do pop up, as he reveals my rebel heart. ‘This is the will of God, even your sanctification.’
